Azincourt Energy Corp. (TSXV:AAZ, BUY (S), David A. Talbot) released results from its recent winter 2021 diamond drilling program at the 70%-owned East Preston uranium project, located in the western portion of the Athabasca Basin, Saskatchewan. The program was originally cut short due to an earlier than expected spring break-up, thus only 5 holes (1,195m) were drilled with 36 geochemical samples collected (read more). However, the company plans to get back to drilling as soon as possible as it follows up on these high-grade uranium targets. While no significant uranium was identified, results should help future drilling vector towards a potential discovery. Anomalous uranium levels were identified within three of the five holes suggesting that mineralized fluids ran through these rocks. Results at each of the five holes include the following: 1) hole EP21004 targeted two parallel conductors and gravity lows in the G zone and intersected several breccia zones and graphitic faulting over 50m with elevated uranium above a graphitic breccia, 2) hole EP21005 targeted the same area as hole EP21004 but along strike, where it intersected several zones of shearing and graphite, and elevated uranium, boron, and other base metals, 3) hole EP21003 targeted a kink in the AB zone conductor, intersecting a wide fault zone, graphite, evidence of crosscutting structures, and elevated base metals, and 4) hole EP21001 and EP21002 both targeted the A zone, intersecting faulted and deformed rocks with graphite (no samples were taken). Additionally, Azincourt released plans for its summer 2021 drill program which include airborne radiometric surveys in the south portion of the property, field mapping sampling to trace radiometric boulders, and a 1,000m drilling program which was originally planned for winter 2021. The drill program would be based on a December 2020 HLEM survey, which indicated multiple prospective corridors and structural complexity along the east edge of this corridor. Permits are already in place, community consultation is ongoing, and drilling is expected to continue within the conductive corridor target from the A through G zones. The winter 2021/22 drill target selection for 25-30 drill holes (6,000m) will be aided by summer 2021 work. Read more
