Awalé Resources Ltd. (TSXV:ARIC, Not Rated, Timothy Lee) reported surface geochemical results at its Odienné project in Côte d’Ivoire that revealed significant Cu-Au anomalism. The company has been primarily focused on Au exploration, having drilled the main Empire Au deposit at Odienné – however, recent drilling at the nearby Charger prospect (read more) encountered a different type of mineralization that has been interpreted as an iron oxide Cu-Au (IOCG) style system. With this new interpretation, the company re-examined past geochemical results for Cu potential, in addition to Au. Through this, the company has identified a >5km-long Cu-Au soil anomaly with Cu values up to 0.18% and Au values up to 1.6 g/t. This new target area, named the Sceptre target, is located to the north of the Charger and Empire targets. The company plans to conduct further sampling, geophysics and drilling on Sceptre as the rainy season abates. This target area has seen only limited historical work, as most of the drilling focused on targets to the south. Overall, we are encouraged to see the company’s new geological interpretation begin to bear fruit, and we look forward to seeing this new model be put to the test in future exploration programs.
