Japan Gold announced that it has narrowed down the number of projects in its exploration portfolio from 35 to 26 across the three largest islands of Japan after concluding a six-month review of the portfolio. The portfolio includes multiple gold targets in 1) the Kitami metallogenic province in North Hokkaido, 2) the Noto Peninsula in Honshu, and 3) the Middle and Southern Kyushu epithermal gold provinces. Japan Gold has a large portfolio of projects, and this decision should allow company resources to be focused on higher-priority target areas. It comes after the number of projects in its alliance with Barrick Gold (TSX:ABX, Not Rated) was also reduced to three (read notable). We now look forward to results from drilling at the Barrick Alliance projects and to announcement of plans for exploration at Japan Gold’s other projects.
