Mawson Gold Ltd. (TSX:MAW, BUY, C$0.50 target, David A. Talbot) is set to commence a maiden drilling program at the Dalbacka prospect, part of the Skellefteå North project in Sweden where the company is earning 85%-interest in the project (read more). A five-hole (~600m) program is planned at the prospect to test a 180m-long outcropping mafic dyke within a 2km-long magnetic structure defined by channel samples grading 4.5 g/t Au over 3.8m and 5.4 g/t over 1.6m. The Skellefteå North project is located on the renowned Skellefte Belt and consists of an area of 2,500 ha, located 40km N-NW of the city of Skellefteå. Over 6M oz Au has been produced from four mines within 22km of the project area. Additionally, scout drilling that has been underway at Mawson’s 100%-owned Rajapalot project in Finland did not return material results. Twenty-six holes (5,317m) were completed at the project targeting near surface mineralization outside of the current resource area. These results are somewhat disappointing since the last time Mawson explored the property results were positive and led to additional discoveries and delineation of resources. Meanwhile, all zones that make up the 1M oz AuEq inferred resource at Rajapalot (read more) remain open at depth and are the subject of an ongoing PEA. Read more
