Impact: Positive
Ucore Rare Metals has completed the commissioning of the third and final stage of its RapidSX Commercialization Demonstration Plant (CDP) in Kingston, for the separation of heavy and light REEs.The plant processed one tonne of mixed REE in less than a week while meeting product specifications. The program has now moved from the final LREE commissioning feed to the HREE demonstration feed for the US Department of Defense (DoD), which awarded Ucore US$4M in Jun/23 to focus on heavy REE magnet material processing of Tb and Dy (read note). We view this development positively as it successfully demonstrates the commercial efficacy of the RapidSX technology to separate REEs in a time and cost-efficient manner. It brings Ucore a step closer to the development of its first commercial 7,500 tpa strategic metals complex (SMC) in Louisiana, for which it recently received tax exemption approvals from the Louisiana Government (read notable).
